No idea who this is, but I fucking hate smokers. The smell is disgusting and gets all over everything.

You must be really sensitive to it if you can smell it from a picture.

A) That...that was a random, pointless, and slightly rude thing to bring up on a pic of an artist that you don't even know.

B) That is Tom Waits. He is a genius. At everything.

C) That is an old picture of Tom Waits. He gave up smoking (and drinking, and most everything else associated with his "lovable dirty drunkard" image) decades ago.

D) But we're all quite glad he apparently smoked a forest worth of whatever, because his distinctive razor-blade-in-whiskey voice is part of the charm.

Some smokers are perfectly nice people. I just wish I had a magic spell that would turn all lit tobacco products within 50 feet of me into celery sticks.

Thief. Also wtf you have a magic spell that can turn cigarettes into any another item and the best you got is celery. I pity you anon. Even just based on the missed comedic opportunities I pity you.

I fucking hate non-smokers. They whine incessantly about smokers. One of my favorite things about being a smoker is that I don't smell the way non-smokers think I should so it's easy to shove their rationalizations for their prejudices about smokers down their throats.

I'm a non-smoker and I don't act like that.

But actually, what do you smell like because I'm imagining something sexy.

I have something of an oral fixation so I love looking at smokers, but I can't stand the smell, especially since my asthma makes it hard to be around the smoke without losing my breath. And sorry, but most of the long-term or heavy smokers I know do have that kind of rank tobacco smell about their clothes and/or hair. It lingers, man.

Way to endear yourselves to those whose air you are polluting.

I have nothing against smokers as people, but I can't stand the rude ones who light up around non-smokers when there are other places available to them, blatantly smoke in non-smoking-marked areas, and don't at least recognize that they are literally endangering the health of the people around them when they choose to smoke.

This ain't so secret, baby. There's a reason his tickets sell out in minutes and I've never yet gotten to see him play in the 20 years I've listened to his music, goddammit.

One of my motivations to keep living is to one day be able to see him perform live.

I write about music professionally and I've been to a LOT of concerts in my 40+ years.

He's top 5, hands down. Absolutely brilliant.

Best concert I have ever been to. IDG why this is even a secret.

I'm a painter and I like to play Waits discs while I make art. It's all that rhythm and all those evocative lyrics that tell bits and pieces of really compelling stories but leave so much to still figure out. Damn, he's amazing. Love to see him perform live but I fear I never will get the chance.

Tom Waits is always best live! I hope he tours again, my god. I love him SO much and he just never stops being awesome.
