No idea who this is, but I fucking hate smokers. The smell is disgusting and gets all over everything.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You must be really sensitive to it if you can smell it from a picture.

A) That...that was a random, pointless, and slightly rude thing to bring up on a pic of an artist that you don't even know.

B) That is Tom Waits. He is a genius. At everything.

C) That is an old picture of Tom Waits. He gave up smoking (and drinking, and most everything else associated with his "lovable dirty drunkard" image) decades ago.

D) But we're all quite glad he apparently smoked a forest worth of whatever, because his distinctive razor-blade-in-whiskey voice is part of the charm.

Some smokers are perfectly nice people. I just wish I had a magic spell that would turn all lit tobacco products within 50 feet of me into celery sticks.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-11-06 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Thief. Also wtf you have a magic spell that can turn cigarettes into any another item and the best you got is celery. I pity you anon. Even just based on the missed comedic opportunities I pity you.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-06 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
5th Doctor cosplay opportunities though.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-11-06 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
All of the 5th Doctor references in the world don't justify bringing more celery into the world my dear, sweet, sad anon.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-06 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
That escalated quickly.

No one likes celery. They like peanut butter. Or soup. Or have been vegetarians so long it doesn't matter anymore.

Sure the first couple of bites are crunchy and refreshing but eventually you're left with the realization you're eating stringy soap.

AYRT

The good thing about celery is that people dropping it outside wouldn't cause as much of an environmental problem as, oh, rubber chickens.

And really. People who are smoking near me are inconveniencing me personally. Why would I want to reward them with something cooler than celery?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-06 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
I fucking hate non-smokers. They whine incessantly about smokers. One of my favorite things about being a smoker is that I don't smell the way non-smokers think I should so it's easy to shove their rationalizations for their prejudices about smokers down their throats.

This reminds me of this lovely poster: http://www.jti.co.jp/sstyle/manners/ad/gallery/graphic13.html

amazing

Yay! An alleged exception in the sea of rank suffocating masses. Course I suppose if you shower twice a day and launder your clothes enough anything's possible.

Well, unless you check out library books/dvds.

We can always tell when they came from a smoker's house. Casual smoker, not so bad. But when you get the ones that have sat for a week or three in a stale chainsmoker house...yeah, it's hard not to gag checking them in.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-06 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
wow rude

I'm a non-smoker and I don't act like that.

But actually, what do you smell like because I'm imagining something sexy.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-06 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I have something of an oral fixation so I love looking at smokers, but I can't stand the smell, especially since my asthma makes it hard to be around the smoke without losing my breath. And sorry, but most of the long-term or heavy smokers I know do have that kind of rank tobacco smell about their clothes and/or hair. It lingers, man.

Way to endear yourselves to those whose air you are polluting.

I have nothing against smokers as people, but I can't stand the rude ones who light up around non-smokers when there are other places available to them, blatantly smoke in non-smoking-marked areas, and don't at least recognize that they are literally endangering the health of the people around them when they choose to smoke.

My problem with smokers is that they think that because they smoke, they get extra breaks so they can go smoke. Most of them dont even finish thier work before smoking so others end up picking up the slack. And yes this has been in everyplace I worked.

Dude, right? When I worked as a dishwasher, I was on my feet from the moment I got to work until I stumbled to my car at the end of a shift. If it was a long shift, I got fifteen/twenty minutes to eat. But the folks that smoked? Eh, they had to go take their smoke breaks ever couple of hours, just go sit outside on the stairs. I kept wanting to ask for a break because I was addicted to fresh air and occasionally sitting.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-06 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, if you don't know Tom Waits, you don't deserve an opinion tbh.
