I think a lot of people here are misinterpreting OP's use of the word "ugly" at the end. I really don't think she's talking aesthetics; I think she's talking on the inside. Seems to me that had she not added "as the stereotypes say" there would be less confusion.

OP, if those people have so little self-esteem that they feel they have to insult you, then yes, I do believe they are ugly people.
