I loved the crap out of Billy Bickle, and a good part of that has to be Sam Rockwell's amazing portrayal. And I'm not sure I shipped Billy/Marty--though I would probably not turn down Colin Farrell and Sam Rockwell making out, heck yeah--but I loved their friendship so much. The fact that Billy was actively trying to be a good friend to Marty despite his psychosis really touched me. In a way, you can say that everything that happened in the desert was Billy trying to help Marty--or, at least, that could be how Billy perceived it.

Now I want to learn more about their friendship, did Billy come before Kaya, was he around when Marty wrote his first successful screenplay...

I take it back. I'm remembering how nervous Billy was before going to Marty and Kaya's party and yeah I totally ship it.
