I always thought Tony and Loki shared bicycle duty. So there are some that I assume would be about Loki and not Tony.

But they aren't in all the popular ships. Clint/Coulson and Clint/Natasha are popular too.

I would agree with Tony and Loki both being the fandom bicycles tbh.

Yeah, there are definitely popular ships that don't involve Tony. But OTOH, there aren't any ship wars involving Loki I've seen. Loki/Anyone shippers are often obnoxious woobifiers, but they're usually ship-and-let-ship.

Whereas Tony/Anyone shippers have a vocal contingent (mostly on tumblr) whose constant bickering gives me the ridiculously vivid mental image of Pepper, Bruce, Steve, and Loki all having a massive free-for-all in the style of Bambi vs Ronno over who is badass enough to KO the others and drag Tony back to their cave by his hair.

It seems to have died down a bit, there's a few posts every now and then besmirching Jane but they're not as common as they used to be. Tbh I am not looking forward to the Jane hate that is going to come with Thor 2, I'm a Thor/Loki shipper myself but I love Jane, she doesn't have to be bashed to enjoy the ship guys. -.-

Aw, I'm sorry. But at least it's dying down. Maybe it won't increase much with the movie? Maybe?

Hmm, I don't recall much Thor/Loki vs Thor/Jane, but maybe that's because it was on norsekink and I bleached most of my experiences with norsekink from my memory.

And Thor/Loki vs Tony/Loki seemed pretty one-sided to me -- some Loki/Tony shippers have Thor being an abusive dickhead to poor Loki who gets saved and cared for by Tony, but the opposite has never happened afaik and it's more often Thor being a dickhead platonic brother instead of two dueling romantic ships. So...hmm...not sure how to classify it. But maybe my experience isn't representative of the whole fandom? Selection bias and all -- I don't care about most Loki fic, so I don't click on it too often.

Let's classify it as "Mystery Ship Wank". It will be like mystery meat but even less nutritious.

I ship Tony/Loki and I've honestly never read a dickhead!Thor fic (except the one where the villain pretends to be Thor and fucks up Loki for extra angst brownie points). Are you counting the badfic as well? Please don't count the bad!fic.

But yeah, Thor is usually automatically either the matchmaker or the overprotective older brother in Tony/Loki. It's a pretty firm fanon among shippers so they don't feel that threatened by Thor/Loki. On the other hand, there's incest wank from time to time. There are lots of clever and polite essays and discussions about Tony/Loki vs Thor/Loki though.

I ship Tony/Loki and I've read several dickhead!Thor fic, and yes, I'm counting the bad!fic as well, because I'm a fast reader and will resort to bad!fic sometimes when it's the only way to get my fix.

I don't ship Thor/Loki (because it lacks my little black dress character Tony), but I've never felt threatened by people shipping other pairings. *g*

A+ mental image. I actually laughed out loud and drew weird looks ^_^ I now also have the mental image of Tony chained to a rock like a prize for the hero in some ancient Greek myth or something while everyone dukes it out in front of him.
