Hm, I understand your frustration. I haven't encountered people trying to shove Steve/Tony down my throat, but it's definitely happened with a few pairings, and it's annoying every freaking time, even when I like the ship in question. Still...

Steve/Tony shippers deserve the criticism they get, but proportionally they're unfairly maligned. Bruce/Tony shippers are nearly as bad as Steve/Tony shippers as far as down-the-throat-shoving goes, although their numbers are smaller. There's all kinds of people going "HOW CAN YOU NOT SHIP THIS? HDU MINIMIZE THEIR WONDERFULNESS BY CLAIMING THERE'S NOTHING ROMANTIC GOING ON?????? WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY WERE DOING IN THIS (the "terrible privilege" conversation) SCENE IF THEY WEREN'T IN LOOOOOOOVE????"

And I'm like "uhhhh...Tony's being compassionate towards the repressed bitter guy who he barely knows because he just met him a few hours ago? Which is so adorable it makes me warm inside, but what love? There's great potential there, yeah, but y'all need to step back a minute if you think they're already in love."

But alas no. 'Course, it is tumblr I'm talking about...

I have honestly never encountered a bad Bruce/Tony shipper. I've encountered bad Steve/Tony shippers, but that seems like a "greater number of fans means a greater number of jerks" thing.

The standard ship wars are pretty standard.

Honestly, anon... a lot of the bad Steve/Tony shippers were around pre-movie. I'm guessing some of that attitude and entitlement carried over.
