I don't struggle. Four of the five shows I watch regularly have complex, well-rounded female characters: The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Elementary, and Revenge.

And then there's Arrow, which is terrible with female characters but has one of the best African American male characters I've seen in that kind of show, so I take what I can get.

Oh, shit, I forgot Parks and Recreation and Scandal. Well yes, those two. So, six shows.

off-topic, but I love the Arrow. It's such a mess in every which way but it's so cheesy and cliche I can't help but love it for its fail

But you're right, I am intrigued by the bodyguard & the main character. Just not in anyone else really.

666 Park Avenue has some great female characters. The lead is smart, has her own interests, investigates things, and despite some flaws (mostly falling into horror genre things like going places alone) she is a character I enjoy. Vanessa Willaims's character is intelligent, stylish (which I love), and acts with composure in almost everything she does. Nona, a teenager, is a minor but very interesting character. Nona has a interesting back-story and a unique ability. She's my one of my favorite characters on the show.

Beauty and the Beast has definite issues with it's lead character, but her partner is amazing. She's sassy, clever, a really good cops and just all around pretty damn badass.

Just to add two more the list.
