(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 01:48 am (UTC)(link)Also if China and France are so powerful with natural resources (dragons)- how is Britain even an empire when ships (what made it so powerful in reality) aren't important? That's like saying America's the world power without them having any nukes. I suppose Britain's empire is much more diminished in this, but there are references to colonies...
I'm overthinking this. Should I give it another go? I do quite like the main characters.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 03:01 am (UTC)(link)Other than that, China's not a big world conqueror because it's rather isolationist and its dragons are citizens, meaning that quite a lot of them don't want to serve in the military or whatever.
And... I don't know. A lot of what I'd tell you depends on how far you got before you gave up. So...?
