I don't remember what day it was but I remember the moment clearly. I was 13, in secondary school and had been feeling a bit crap ever since lunch. I initially wrote it away as something I ate disagreeing with me until during my last class of the day, Religious Studies, I felt so absolutely terrible that I asked the teacher if I could be excused to the bathroom. When I was in the toilet cubicle I pulled my pants down and noticed that there was blood in my underwear, my first thought was 'Holy crap what's wrong with me?! O_o' before I realised what my body was doing. I padded my underwear with lots of crappy school tissue paper and sat through the remainder of the lesson feeling awful before going home and having an awkward 'so I'm a lady now' conversation with my mother.
