Re: Your First Period (Possibly TMI)

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I was 12, school had just restarted, there was a StarWars rerun that night. I didn't tell anybody, just put a pad and went on with my life. No big deal.
A month later my mother asked rhetorically when was I going to have my first period and I had to answer that, well, technically, I was having my second one at the moment.

Nobody made a fuss about it, which was nice, but later my mother forced me to watch, "because I had to know", a really horrible movie about a 13-yr-ol girl who gets knocked up on her first time having sex, medical abortion fucking fails, instead of going on with surgical abortion she just gives up to apathy and keeps the baby, goes into premature labour and needs a c-section, doesn't cope well at all, regrets having the baby, her mother has to raise it instead of her, and the whole jig is still treated as a fucking beautiful and joyous thing. I saw it as her way to tell me "never-ever have sex, even protected, lest you will instantly fuck up your whole life"!
