Most people who are confident in their looks don't feel the need to brag about it, just sayin'.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
But she's a PRETTY girl, don't you understand? And people like her because she's PRETTY. And she wasn't always pretty but now she's PRETTY and she wants you to know she's PRETTY and people think she's PRETTY.

You forgot to capitalize one of the "PRETTY"s.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-09 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
That pretty doesn't matter because it's when she was not pretty, not when she was PRETTY.

LMAO! I just laughed away all my ugly! Yahoo! Now I am pretty like the OP!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Damnit, I can't remember the name of the crazy narcissist lady. (She was crazy, big nose, older, blonde, and hysterically ego-centric. Ringing any bells?)

Pretend this was me linking you to her.

ayrt

Yes! The British one, right?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so. Women hated her because all their menz wanted her more than them? And that made her sad?

NA

She's one of those white woman who thinks she's the hottest shit ever just because she's white (much like the OP, I wonder if they are one and the same?).

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The one that was in the papers?

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL

Samantha Brick! Ohh she does make me laugh, poor woman.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2124246/Samantha-Brick-downsides-looking-pretty-Why-women-hate-beautiful.html

Her name is Samantha Brick, and she's as subtle as her name would imply. The only country she would be considered above average in is Britain.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-09 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
pfffff, that fake smile. she has it in every picture. lol.

Funny and ridiculous as the article was in isolation, in context it's pretty depressing, as other articles make it clear that her husband and family emotionally abuse her and have normalized the abuse such that she internalized the beauty norms they've foisted on her.

Also depressing: the thousands of people who thought the relevant part of the article was not "Wow, looks aren't everything and you seem like a real asshole to everyone. That is probably why people don't like you." but instead "HAHA LOL U UGLY." Because thanks everyone, responding with gross insults about her looks is the appropriate response, because the article would be soooo different if she fit your standards of attractiveness. Not.

You're thinking of Samantha Brick, she seems to be trying to outdo 'Liz Jones'

(Anonymous) 2012-11-09 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember her, but it's important to remember that the people who published her article altered it A LOT before publishing - like changed the entire focus and message of her article (they've done that multiple times).

Her original article was apparently more along the lines of discussing how attractive people are privileged.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
can be very true. i know a girl who is constantly going on about how attractive she is and shoving it around, making fun of other peoples looks, etc. but it's easy to tell that under it she has little self confidence :/

No, actually. Lots of people brag about the things they like about themselves - they just don't do it around people who aren't at their level. Sports people brag about their abilities, geeks brag about their cred, the A-grade kids brag about getting 'A's, good-looking people brag about being good looking. They just don't do it around people that aren't able to keep up with the bragging.

Pretty sure it's just that braggarts brag, and you happen to find some braggarts in just about every cohort.

It's almost always a sign of insecurity. And obnoxious.
