Taboo in USA and some other few countries. The world is too large, the culture in each country is too different and expect that everyone hold to certain culture standards is... well, I don't have to explain it, do I?

If this had said "no history of racism" I'd agree, but there are lots, lots of countries whose problems with race have nothing to do with blackface.

But the OP knows it is taboo. That's the thing. This isn't a case of stumbling on a photo of someone in blackface who didn't know blackface was taboo. This is someone who knows it is seen as offensive and doesn't care. Even more, she wants kudos for not caring. That's the problem right there. She/he is looking for recognition in the comments, otherwise why make this secret at all? What is she looking to get out by writing this secret? It's either that or wanting to start wank.

Taboo in certain post-colonial places, not everywhere. Offensive via racial power dynamics in those places, not everywhere. It doesn't even sound like real blackface. US reactions and reasoning don't apply everywhere, nor should they. The rest of the world would like to live without having to tiptoe around your sensitivities all the damn time, especially when you're not even involved.

I was always under the impression that sharing a secret was exactly that. Sharing a secret. This isn't something the secret-maker could just run around talking about, so they posted about it.

To make a comment and relate an experience without having to directly put up with huffy responses.

Seriously? What's the point in any secret? At least this one actually has a reason to be a secret -- being an uncommon viewpoint -- as opposed to so many *common* opinions that get posted as omgsecret.
