I am so glad someone spoke up about this. I'm stubborn enough that the threat of being called anti-semitic doesn't keep me from looking at what Zionism has brought about in Palestine and the middle east, and being appalled at the systematic genocide. I hope that with this SJW kerfuffle, fandom at large will wise up to the fact that not everyone who yells about privilege and oppression is airing a legitimate greivance. There is a lot of injustice, and racism/sexism/etc. are real, awful things, but there's no shortcut to running accusations past your own crap detectors. A moral, decent human being can't trust other people to do their thinking for them. If you were ever revolted at the defense "I was just following orders," keep in mind that the alternative that we liberals have comitted ourselves to is questioning. Challenging. Acting in ways that we can own up to, without having to blame anyone. When that means we disagree with the world at large, it's difficult. Disagreeing with people we normally see eye-to-eye with is even harder. But that's what an ally does. That's what it means to be commited to fighting injustice. Anyone can support the causes that other people risked and died for, the ones society has embraced in name, if often not in fact. Looking at the problems that society won't even admit are problems, though, the ones that get you called unsavory names because there is an official position, dammit ... that's indispensable and takes real courage. (Which isn't a license to stupidly go out and pick fights/be contrary. But there are still problems that call for the willingness to stand alone.)

I am glad to see that so far, despite the comments moaning about "troll secret" and worrying that the responses are going to be hateful, reacionary, and racist, they haven't been. I hope you feel less alone, OP.
