I totally agree about AUs. My favorites are always the one that the author works in those nods to canon. I love seeing the ways that people can manage to stay true to the source text, even while wildly changing elements of it, like the events or setting.

High five for quoting Sturgeon's Law, btw. It remains true. So, so true.
