I dedicated an embarrassing amount of time last year to writing fic of Thomas Hobbes/William Cavendish, and then after Cavendish dies Hobbes falls in love with Descartes in Paris, but he feels he would betray Cavendish by doing anything about it, so that's why he was always slagging off Descartes' work, etc. All the stress drove him a little crazy, which is why he convinced himself he could square the circle and other ridiculous things.

...Just thought I'd share...
