Ah, well, I apologize, but I have a really hard time taking anyone who thinks checking tumblr tags will result in anything other than despair seriously. Really, NEVER track tags in big fandoms. The results you get are never uncontaminated by keyboardmashing stupidity and it's pretty much the single worst way to experience fandom ever. If you're stupid enough to track tags and actually be affected by what you see, which is a rape-spitting handful of juvenile lunatics who rarely if ever spread beyond their own little circle, you kind of deserve to get irritated that badly, so this secret just seems incredibly petty and personal.

Tumblr tags are definitely a minefield of stupidity, but a lot of people check them because they don't have friends or know of people in the fandom to follow with their particular interest. That's especially true for less popular characters, even in huge fandoms. Those tags were mostly pretty awesome until the movie news hit and people who weren't even fans of the characters in question decided to invade the tags and get their wank all over the place.

Thank you for saying this. I was getting annoyed because a lot of comments seemed to imply that tumblr tags=all of fandom, and you were just clueless if you didn't catch every little drama fest that rolls through the tags. I mean, even if you do follow tags, it's very easy to miss stuff if you're not checking them every single day, just because of how fast tumblr moves.
