Pointing out that the poll existed as not at all queerbaiting. Some of the more overzealous fans were the ones who assumed that if Sterek won the poll it would become canon. Neither Jeff nor anyone else involved in the show said that Sterek would become canon if they won. If he had, that would have been queerbaiting and really fucking sketchy to boot, but acknowledging that slash exists =/= queerbaiting.
