...is it utterly implausible to you that siblings could exist on the same forum? There isn't a little BELL in my house that liveoddly rings when Someone Is Wrong On The Internet. Get over yourself.

is your reading comprehension off for a reason, or is it appropriate of me to mock it? because i never once said it was implausible. i believe you. i just thought you were the same person at first.

You then said "cute though, summoning brethren to your semantics-infused cause."

Which implies:
a) you're a patronising arsehole
b) you still think liveoddly SUMMONED ME TO THEIR AID and that I am a mouthpiece for their opinions, which is not the case. Again. Get over yourself.
c) you have no respect for our beliefs, our causes or our arguments, which if you actually READ and CONSIDERED our comments you would be aware have sod all to do with semantics and everything to do with the belief that all lives lost in war are worthy of value and respect, and that the best form of respect to veterans is to prevent there being more veterans. But nope, you're going to sit there and keep making arguments grounded in historical inaccuracy (like the claim that peace has nothing to do with Remembrance Day when it was originally begun as a symbol of how this could never be allowed to happen again, and that wearing symbols of peace on that day is inappropriate when the red poppy itself was first designed to signify working towards peace) and your own inflated self esteem. so
d) it ain't my reading comprehension that needs work, bub.

a, maybe. b, yes (it makes far more sense to me that you were notified of the argument rather than found it entirely by yourself), but that doesn't mean it's "utterly implausible" to me as you said. i just made a reasonable assumption. c, it's not that i don't have respect for them, it's that i disagree with them, and for reasons that extend far beyond "i disagree." had i not read or considered your arguments i wouldn't be here still debating them. it's logically fallacious of you to assume i don't think all lives lost due to war are worthy of respect, because i certainly do feel that way. i hold a consistent life ethic that i take very seriously. i also never said that peace never had anything to do with remembrance say (again, not seeing your own willingness to listen reflected in your ability to read properly). my initial comment to you, regarding the semantics, was said because both you and your sister promptly asked me to show you where it states remembrance day is primarily for soldiers, going off on a tangent about what "remembrance" as a word means, as if that has anything to do with how it's used here.
also, being a veteran is not a bad thing. maybe you meant casualty or some such.

d. not sure where you're from exactly but i'd appreciate not being called bub.

Of course being a veteran is a bad thing. It's a lot better than being a casualty, and I hasten to add that it doesn't make one a bad person, but it's a thing nobody should have to be. It's a bad thing in that sense. That said, most of the arguments here still apply if one runs s/veteran/casualty/g over them.

has it perchance occurred to you that there are tons of soldiers from all over the world that enjoy their job? or is this not about their wellbeing, and more about the ethics of war to you? i've already stated that war is a necessary evil. some of us willingly join the armed forces in spite of this, because somebody has to do it. but it's a dangerous and often thankless job - depending on the country, i'd wager - and it's not something a lot of people do unless their heart is in it. most soldiers in many nations are even proud of their profession. there's nothing objectively wrong about that,

lol you're acting as if you actually believe you're ~cool~ like the dude in your icon. Get over yourself.

What do you think is going on? Did you reply in the wrong place?
