I get most of my reading material from the library these days. The local library chain joined some sort of state consortium which gives me easy access to the catalogs of some 40+ libraries across the state without having to deal with any inter-library loan tedium.

I pretty much never buy anything from BAM unless it's on the clearance tables/racks, and I go in the store maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Most of the books I've bought recently have been clean, super nice but used copies. We've got a pretty awesome Goodwill Bookstore in my town that sells the bulk of its stuff, even like-new hardcovers, for $3-$5----that opening was a thrilling day. A whole Goodwill! Just for books! (And some CDs and movies.) The Salvation Army in town also has a decent sized book section, with most paperbacks 50 cents a pop, but the copies aren't generally in very nice condition. And then there's an independent store that sells new and used, but the prices are generally at least twice Goodwills so I'm pickier about what I get from there. I go physical book shopping about every other month and load up on a dozen or so books at a time.

For book shopping online, I generally turn to bookcloseouts.com or Amazon.
