I have a lot of old animu things I want to throw. But something in this conversation is bothering me. Did Animation equal crappy fandom and Live action equal "mature" fandom?

No, I think it's more that back when those anime were popular here in the U.S. most of the merch being sold wasn't really good quality, or later after a person has moved on from that fandom the stuff is kinda embarrassing to have.

Yeah, like the other anon said, for me it's mostly that I was in anime fandom over a decade ago, and most of the merch I bought wasn't licensed stuff. I don't want to just toss it all, but it's hard to sell and I don't know anyone to just give it away to.
