According to the staff (main writer) Junpei will be chasing after her forever...that was before a sequel was planned though, so who knows. I haven't played the second game yet so I don't know if they have any role.

I'm pretty pessimistic on that happening (I have yet to play the second game since it's not yet available in Europe), but damn, I SO hope there is at least some closure for them. ANYTHING would be better than "Junpei chasing after her for the rest of his life". Poor guy.
And poor her, too. Because she was basically robbed of her childhood and innocence and the ending was pretty tragic for her as well.

...great, I made myself sad.

Woohoo, a 999 secret! Having played both games, I am so looking forward to the third game. The ending to the second game made it seem like everybody's going to be there in the third game, so it's gonna be awesome. I feel like the writers have to get them together to appease the fans, but then again, neither game's ending so far has been particularly happy.

I have been playing its sequel Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward and the main character reminds me of Junpei and there is a female character who reminds me of June. So in my head canon, they're the same people, just with different names, lol.
