Not really related, but I've had Fate/stay night on my 'to watch' list for ages but the sheer amount of characters and setting detail is kind of...intimidating. I don't know if I have the patience to slog through all that information anymore.

TV Tropes has a very interesting thought about this - that the Fire Nation royal family had some sort of genetic mutation that had the males go insane at around a certain age.

Well...it made more sense how they wrote it, even though Iroh didn't seem to succumb to it, or was stopped somehow by the death of his son.
