i don't believe people have souls, so sorry, OP, but, yeah, you are soul-less.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
WE'RE ALL SOULLESS ROBOTS! They're nothing to differentiate us from the Mitt Romneys of the world.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)

That's an odd jump. I always get confused when people think not having a soul equals not having a personality or differentiating characteristics from everyone else. So strange.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Apart from our genetics and upbringing.

/OP

I don't really either, not seriously, but it was more the tone of it and the reactions that freaked me out.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Generally, when people say that someone is "soulless", they don't mean "lacking a soul;" they're speaking figuratively. To have no soul is to have no depth, to reject emotion, to be removed from accepted human experience.

I have a feeling that you know this. But, well, you thought that it would be clever to interpret the phrase literally.

It doesn't make you clever. It just makes you look like you're incapable of abstract thought.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Or an attempt at deconstructing the automatic connection between emotion and religious belief in a soul. Like the use of hysterical and it's sexist tones.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I like the word hysterical. It's very useful despite its origins.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh definitely. I agree.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Language is dynamic. Words evolve beyond their original meanings and contexts (for an example that's sort of non-political, let's look at "disenfranchise." First of all, the original word is "disfranchise." Second of all, the actual meaning is along the lines of, "to deny the right to vote." That is not how the word is used today, in most cases. And that's okay). If they did not, then we would have a problem, in the sense that our language would no longer be technically living.

A question: do you never say "good bye" to anyone?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
naw I say see ya lates bro

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it was supposed to be a joke.
