I just plain ship it and try not to over-think their professional relationship. He genuinely wants to help her whether she's paying him or not, and if anyone can understand her wanting to redeem herself it's him. Basically I didn't stand a chance in not shipping them.

I've never seen the show, but I don't need to in order to know that shipping preferences do not always have much of any bearing one one's actual, real-life relationship preferences and behaviors. XD If they have a great dynamic, and are really shippable in the show, despite the objectionable nature of their relationship, it's cool. It's a tv show. Fantasy is fantasy, and you shouldn't feel bad about it. It's not as though liking the pairing suddenly strips you of all your ethics. It just means that you can step outside of the real world for a moment and appreciate the pairing despite the connotations it would have if it were in the real world. Nothing wrong with that. :)

when did regina rape someone? i genuinely don't remember this. ia with the rest though -- maybe she's not as ~evil~ in recent episodes but i think the power balance is at the very least equal, if not in her favor.

idk this reminds me of merlin fandom and the debate over the master/servant power dynamic and how their identities are more complex than that. like yeah traditionally a master has power over his service but uhhhhhhhhh in this case the servant is a super powerful wizard so who really has the power?

Regina had control over Graham's heart when they had sex, basically controlling his emotions and forcing him to be with her, iirc.

She took Graham's heart (Thus being able to control his every action) and then told her guards to bring him to her bedchamber. She then continued to bonk him in Storybrook. He did not want to be with her romantically or sexually, he only slept with her because of his heart being in her keep.

That is rape, period.

Well, the show is redeeming her so you're gonna have to let this go.

Uh, no offense, but anon doesn't have to do anything. No one's obligated to like Regina whether she's redeemed or not. Or any of the characters on the show for that matter.

You like who you like and you hate who you hate and that's not an easy thing to change.

Plus, Regina has done completely reprehensible things, so it's not exactly like anon is hating her just to hate her. They have a reason.

I doubt I'll ever actually like her myself, but for right now she's better than she was.

wait like I know she's a rapist and a murderer but when did she murder a child specifically? like I don't remember that happening? she kills leopold, graham, henry sr., the gnome, and the unnamed lady in the woods... who am I missing?

I've shipped them ever since he stood up for her when Dr. Whale came barging into their therapy session. I think even she was a little bit impressed at how much spine he showed.

And idk, it's Storybrooke, ethics and professional responsibilities being out the window is just kind of a given.

You're definitely overthinking it. Would you tell a client that all their fantasies have to be consistent with their ethics for them to be a moral person? It's okay to enjoy all kinds of stuff in fiction that you know isn't all right in real life.

I wouldn't read too much into it, especially not as a reflection of you personally (let's face it, almost every person in the world has thoughts or fantasies that they worry are "weird" and think no one else has, when it's something we all share) - Archie doesn't help people because it's his profession, he helps people because he is a genuinely caring person. I don't see any power issues (at least, coming from him) being in the way of shipping him with someone.

Well - I really don't ship them, but if you like them as a pairing, go for it. I can only agree with most of the others, it's a ship, nothing more. So don't let your RL decisions interfere with that. It's for fun, enjoy every minute. RL-rules don't apply for a fictional pairing/ship. If we were to judge them - Regina with all her ~mistakes and he wasn't absolute free of bad decisions either - I guess we would even think about redeeming them. So just enjoy them and don't feel bad about it, you have really no reason to.
