You're the one who made the assertion. If your response when asked for backup is "I'm too lazy, go look it up yourself", then I'm going just going to assume you're making it up. The laziness is in the fact that said person made an assertion and refused to provide any evidence to back it up. If one is going to make an argument, then one should be prepared to defend it. Saying, "I'm not going to defend my position because YOU can research the points that support it" is lazy, and antithetical to the spirit of debate.
