Sorry, but I'm not breaking the spines on my books to show you. Look up CS Lewis and Tolkien and their book club.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Then I'm going to take that as your admission of "I'm making shit up now to be right on the internet" and go with my first assumption that you're a dumbass =D

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
So you don't know how to look things up on the internet that's not on wiki or urban dictionary? That's sad. But seriously. Not breaking my book just to scan pages you won't read in. I care more about my books than what you think of me.

You're the one who made the assertion. If your response when asked for backup is "I'm too lazy, go look it up yourself", then I'm going just going to assume you're making it up. Because if I should be able to Google it in 5 minutes, then so can you without having to scan any books. If you won't even bother with that, then I'm going to assume there's nothing to research.

I don't want to damage my property =/= I'm lazy

I don't want to take half an hour to show you what you could figure out in five minutes =/= I'm lazy

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Shut up, brony bitch.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
The laziness is in the fact that said person made an assertion and refused to provide any evidence to back it up. If one is going to make an argument, then one should be prepared to defend it. Saying, "I'm not going to defend my position because YOU can research the points that support it" is lazy, and antithetical to the spirit of debate.

Fair enough. It sounded like you (or other anon? not sure if same) were demanding that they go to all kinds of trouble for it, but I think that was just bad reading on my part. Sorry ^^;

Do you have to like knee your book in its spine to take a shitty cell-phone picture of the paragraph you're referring to?

Either way, it's irrelevant. Tolkien's pretty damn dead and the original comenter never had to deal with him, unlike how they have to deal with the homestuck creator/fandom right now.

unlike how they have to deal with the homestuck creator/fandom right now.

No one HAS to deal with Homestuck.

Seriously, if you don't like it, then don't read it and when you see references to it (like in F!S) then scroll the fuck by.

Shut up, brony bitch.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-15 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
The burden of proof is on the person who made the argument. It's not reasonable to say, "I am right, but I won't demonstrate why."
