I don't know if they literally meant it or not but I remember everybody being really angry and overprotective of this particular movie. I'm not hiding in my house traumatized by it or anything, I just decided to never get in an online discussion about this movie. Until now I guess.

Look. There are in fact people who have been stalked because they've disliked pieces of fiction. Most recently, I saw it on Good Reads, where a group of idiots decided to band together and bully those who dared to criticize the works of their favorite authors. They tracked down their "enemies" and the family members of said enemies and called them, at home, in order to harass and threaten them.

Maybe you don't think that's serious. I sort of think that it is.

It might seem utterly ridiculous that a person could be harassed for disliking something, but it happens. And it's not cool.

I know this is not what you meant, but did you report them to the Good Reads staff with screencaps and such? (Or was this encouraged or sanctioned by them? D:)

It was not. If you google "Stop the Goodreads Bullies" you'll get a lot of various criticism of what they're doing around the net. There is no affiliation at all with GoodReads, and GoodReads can't do much about it since it is not their site that the harassment is taking place on.
