You can hate homestuck for many valid reasons, but it's more like a novel then a comic. You did it wrong. Maybe you'd hate it anyway, but you did.

LoTRs? Is racist and sexist. Also its also not the pinnacle of writing. He spends too much time describing every fucking tree. But you know what even though I don't like it I respect YOUR right to like it. So why don't you be an adult and do the same for homestuck fans. (Or did Hussie and his fans sleep with your dog and kill your family?)

And references to other works is actually a VERY VERY old practice going back the fucking Iliad. Referencing other works at the very basic level shows that the writer expects his readers to be smart enough to get certain references.

Tolkien was very racist and sexist. Just FYI. Also he used archetypes from folk stories from other countries. LoTR isn't some holy book that nothing can be compared to. You're the reason why people won't read LoTRs.

I mean I'm not saying you *have* to read Homestuck and nobody is losing any sleep over you not reading it. But disliking it because of intentional trolls in the fandom is silly. You don't even have to interact with the fandom at all, whether you read the comic or not.

(The reason I don't like LotR isn't because of pretentious fans like you. It's because I think Tolkein's writing sucks. And I don't complain when other people talk about it or say why they like it ffs, I just don't engage in it myself because it does not interest me)

Not everyone has the same opinion as you. Personally, I adore Homestuck and I couldn't get past the first chapter of The Two Towers because it was so boring and slow.

I love Homestuck, and all, but unless you are trolling or something, all this you are doing is only turning people away from it.

Homestuck is the kind of thing that you enjoy more if you find it on your own and explore it at your own leisure instead of having it shoved at your face.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon it completely un-spoiler-ed, find it kind of boring but keep reading it out of mild curiosity, find the link to the other comics, read Problem Sleuth, and then finally get the humor in Homestuck.

Had anyone interfered in the process by shoving links and evangelizing it at me, I would have dropped it out of sheer annoyance.

No I didn't 'do it wrong'. It's an online comic. I read a few pages and got bored, and then I moved onto other comics. I don't need to give it any sort of treatment you view as necessary. I know you love it, but the world still spins despite the fact I decided it wasn't worth my time after a few pages.
