Agreed he's going to get ass pats from like minded idiots no matter what. I'd rather they stay in their own idiot circlejerk.

I didn't mean stay silent on the topics of sexism. I just don't see the point or benefit of talking to people like him about it. Not going to make a dent in his little brain, so why waste your efforts in that area? Move on to somewhere it will actually benefit.

I sort of agree. And I wasn't clear in my words that I was more saying not giving him attention=not commenting on his original post or entering the discussion with him. But I also wish that when we (we being the internet at large) discussed the topics we wouldn't name names or link back, but discuss in a more general way as not to give direct attention or credence to their words.

Kind of a double-edged sword, though. If you just keep the discussions around sexism vague and don't point to instances like these or point them out when you see them, then you get people saying that it's really not that bad, stuff like that doesn't actually happen, people are exaggerating, etc. And just because linking his post is giving him attention, it doesn't mean it's positive attention. I agree that sometimes it's not worth it to engage idiots like him directly because they're pretty steadfast in their idiocy, but I think it's still worth while to link the post and have discussions around that.

Yeah, exactly. It's easy to deny or dismiss this shit when people talk about vague examples, or "I heard someone once said..." instead of pointing to actual, concrete examples. Plus, if we were talking about is vague terms without referring to a specific person/incident, we'd quite possibly get people asking us to give examples, which would just lead us back to naming names or giving links...
