I feel you, OP. I will read any and all kid fic. Even the really terrible stuff. Although I will end up rage quitting kid fic if the author dumbs down the kids way too much. OOC I can do. Writing kids badly, I cannot.

I often have the opposite problem, with kids being oddly wise beyond their years. It's a hard sweet spot to his if you don't spend a lot of time around them to really nail their ages I think.

yeah, it drives me crazy too! Either that, or my kid is a genius. And if you're writing Tony Stark's kid, and mine is smarter than his, that seems OOC to me.

That is pretty seriously cute. *bro-fist* on the love for good baby art. (or sparkling art, in my primary fandom)

I hate baby that is instant OOCness for the character. Like Sherlock or any other emotionally damaged character adopting a baby or any similar crap, omg. Why do people insist on such utter nonsense I will never know. Not to mention how terrible for the kid it would be to have such a parent. Just, no.

Not saying it's IC for Sherlock or any of the other characters you presumably have in mind, but emotionally damaged people have kids all the time IRL.

I adore kid fic. An embarrassingly high percentage of my headcanons are about the children of the characters I ship. I don't share them, because meanwhile my friends are imagining these plotty, cracky, brilliant HCs and all I can come up with is baby!fluff.

Also with you on the tough guys becoming fathers. I think that's fascinating.

I may or may not have shamefully drawn something like this for Trafalgar Law. The idea was so ridiculously cute to me and I know it's ooc but still.

Gah, that art is seriously adorable.

I like baby and kidfic on occasion, when done right, and when in character. There's only so much OOCness I can take and if the character in question isn't the type to want or care for children, I don't find myself investing in the story like I should.

That said, you like what you like. No need to be ashamed of it.

I secretly love kid-fic. Except, I don't love it for the kids themselves, more for seeing the characters I already love settle down or decide to have the kids, and how they would adjust, what their parenting styles are, etc.

I love kids and probably will never be able to have any of my own, so reading about my favorite characters with babies really makes my day. I don't care how OOC it is, as long as it's well-written otherwise I'll read it.

Anyway I'm kinda the same way. I much prefer IC stuff, but kidfic for my favorite pairing is pretty much the only circumstance in which I will read it even if it's OOC.

That moment where a good friend's art is used in a fandom secret. I seriously just boggled for a second.

That picture is so adorable *melts*. My husband does that a lot to our baby and I'm always like "yuck, do you know where her feet have been" but it's so cute because he'll put her hand or foot in his mouth and growl at her like he's gnawing on her or something and she just loves it, she's so weird. It's especially cute because he's one of those "tough guys" but he's a puddle of goo when he's with his daughter.

Is that Sephiroth?
