Re: Odd Qurks and Habits

When I eat or use anything like pudding, butter, cool whip, etc. that is soft and comes in a tub, I have to scoop it out in a way that still leaves the top smooth and level. Nothing drives me crazier than opening up the butter and seeing big, uneven chunks taken out of it. Yes, I do realize how weird and anal retentive this is.

Honey that is not weird! It is just how it is supposed to be done, just like knives should face the same way in the drawer, same with cups, and labels should always face the same way...

Glad I'm not the only one! Haha, I do the same things with silverware and dishes. I'm also extremely particular about how things line up in my pantry, and I have a system for how boxes, etc. must be crushed and folded before going in the trash.

All of this is especially funny, since in other areas I'm kind of a slob.

Same here... If it can be organized I've organized it, but I'm pretty much all straight lines and neat piles or the exact opposite.

Which makes people think I'm pretty odd, because I'm seriously strict on how things are supposed to be, but then there are times where I got piles of mess, but that is because I don't like doing things halfway and I prefer it to be messy than half done.

I'm the exact same way! Everything is either neat and organized and pristine, or just left in haphazard piles all over. I'm very all or nothing as well.

Haha I'm sorry, you would hate to live with me. My favorite part about soft food things is ruining the crisp, clear surface.

Lol, I used to have a roommate who was the exact same way, actually. She used to demolish things, then when I got a hold of them I'd very carefully smooth them over. It was like some weird parody of the circle of life.

So, by making it fit your desire, you give her a fresh canvas to play with.

Win win for her!

Haha, this is me and my sister when we're both at home. I dig into anything with an abandon, and she must have things smooth. Not only in the container either! She makes a perfectly even surface with her jelly on bread or cream cheese on a bagel, too. I like to joke she should go work in a cake shop, spreading the icing.

I have to scoop it out in a way that still leaves the top smooth and level.

....how is that possible? Do you mean you smooth it over afterward?

Re: Odd Qurks and Habits

(Anonymous) 2012-11-16 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, scoop isn't really the right word. I generally skim off the top with the edge of my spoon to keep things level. Unless someone's already been in it and made it uneven, then I smooth it over.

Ah ha, okay. That makes much more sense. :)

*was imagining some secret ninja 'scoop from below' trick*

Haha I was imagining the same ninja trick.

For me it depends on the actual food - pudding, I just dig in, but prepackaged sherbet or something else with more shape, I draw half circles across the top to keep it level in the container.

Heee!

I admire the smoothness of a new jar of peanut butter or something, but then i dig right in. :)

If I ever learn any secret ninja scooping tricks, I'll be sure to share with the class. ;)
