Storyline ideas for a show of yours that sadly can't happen?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-16 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
What are some storyline ideas (or just scene ideas) that you wish you could have seen happen in a show of yours, but due to the ongoing march of continuity bringing an end to a specific period/situation/arrangement of characters, or due to the show ending, you know it can never happen?

Fakir and Autor becoming better friends in a theoretical season 3 of Princess Tutu. Learning more about Autor's backstory (since all we get are vague references and hints). Flashbacks showing more of Drosselmeyer's history. Possibly dealing with Fakir's love for Ahiru, too. (Okay, really just season 3 of Princess Tutu.)

The FMP! anime adaptation dealing with Tessa's dead boyfriend from the novels. (Even if the anime continues, which I'm still hoping it will, the boyfriend is definitely seeming like it's being cut out. Which I think is a shame because ever since I've found out about him it makes a lot of Tessa's actions and hang-ups make WAY more sense.)

Chrono Crusade stuff yeah, I know, obligatory: Seeing Joshua first joining the Order, what sort of work he does there in more depth, how he's dealing with the stuff that happens to him in the story, etc. Finding out how Joshua and Azmaria became a couple. Shader and Fiore perhaps officially becoming a couple instead of just being teased (or at least learning about their life together). Information about what the hell the Hendrich Foundation IS.

The Thrawn trilogy becoming the new trilogy of Star Wars movies. :(

Oh, and hitting the "random" button and getting this icon reminded me: Seeing more of Takako before she becomes the Princess of Disaster, and maybe some explanation for why Sasame loves her so much in the first place..

YEEEEEEEEEEES to that last one. As much as I hate prequels, I'd really love to see more of what happened to anime-Takako (although some clues to her past were shown in the manga). Pretear is my favorite anime ever, so I can't quite get enough of it *____*

I have no problems with prequels, so...yeah. XD They DO go into it a bit more in the manga, but still all we really get about Takako's personality is "she cried a lot and was really freaked out by being a Pretear" which...still sort of makes me wonder what Sasame saw in her? Not that I want to imply that people that struggle with depression or something aren't loveable, but I still want to know, like, what qualities were attractive to Sasame, because I'm sure there was more to her than just "she was often frightened." Is she intelligent? Can he talk to her about music or something in a way he can't with the other Knights? Was she a really caring person before she went all evil and crazy? I WANT TO KNOOOOOW.

Honestly my ideal scenario would be Pretear getting some sort of remake that had more episodes so it could flesh out a lot of the characters and have better pacing. The anime sort of feels like it was rewritten halfway through because they got less episodes than they were hoping to get, and while Pretear's one of my favorite anime too, I think it could've been even better if they'd had a chance to develop more of the characters and do some world building for Leafenia and such...

Not a new storyline, but I really wanted for Criminal Minds to go into Reid's addiction more. That can definitely expand to the entire roster. The point of the show is the crimes and criminals, but the core characters really get neglected. I also want to see Garcia leading her trauma group.

I'm vaguely sad that we'll never get to see the time the Tenth Doctor shtupped Queen Elizabeth I, or what exactly she wanted to arrest him for in The Shakespeare Code. *sigh* I suppose the circumstances could always be explained, but now that we'll never get an actual episode of it I prefer it to remain a Noodle Incident.

Anything after episode 13 of Kings. I am still incredibly bitter that that show got cancelled. I miss the characters and would love to know where the creator intended to take things from where they left off. So much potential, wasted.

I know this is beating a long-dead horse, but it's true - I'd really love to see what they could have done with just one more season of Firefly.

This might not be exactly what you're asking, but there are a lot of possible adaptations and fairy tales I would give my right arm to see done in classic 2D animation, but with the prevalence of 3D (which isn't bad, it's just not 2D) it's not likely to happen. The best example of this I can think of is a 2D animated film of Wicked done by Disney, but I don't think they have any 2D films planned for the future and they're already doing an Oz movie, so it'll probably never happen.

I just recently watched Firefly for the first time and I want so, so much more.

Also I'm SO upset that The Snow Queen got switched from 2D to 3D.

Right, that's the movie Frozen? I'm interested, but I would be on the train to Hype Town if it were in 2D.

So long as Serenity gets retconned out I'm fine with this.

I would've simply liked another season of Enterprise and for the last episode to never have happened, as I usually pretend it didn't.

Can I pretend that the last few episodes of Voyager didn't happen either?

(Seriously, Chakotay/Seven, what the HELL?)

I just tend to pretend those scenes didn't happen, and thankfully the tie-in novels get rid of it pretty fast so that makes it really easy!

Ugh, that last episode of Enterprise. I've never actually even watched that entire episode (downloaded the spoiler scenes from the web, and that was enough for me), and I'm still bitter and resentful.

Aside from it being a ginormous piece of poo, it kind of sucked all of the air out of the room. For a long time after that, I didn't even read fanfic for the show - at least, until I mentally de-canonized the episode. New canon? Now I like to think of it as Riker's stinky brain fart.

I use the novels for my headcanon, since they retconned all the horrible parts of it quite effectively. 'The Good That Men Do' is the one that completely reworks it.

For Doctor Who, I would have loved to have seen the Brigadier in a Tenth or Eleventh Doctor story. I'm glad he had a little role in SJA and has had a couple of mentions, but it still makes me sad that it never happened and never will now.

THIIIIIIS. Whatever were the producers waiting for anyway? They knew he was old :(

I want all the fanfic about whatthefuck he was doing while stranded in Peru during the incident with the Sontarans. Does any exist? I just picture him glancing up for a second when the Doctor set the sky on fire and going "Well, there he goes again" and just returning to what he was doing before without a blink...

I wished we could have seen more of Sarah Jane on SW. I loved SJA, but I would have loved to see her spend more time with the Doctor. :(

Let's put it this way, after the first seven or eight episodes of the Legend of Korra, I was picturing it going in a VERY different direction.

That direction would have involved actually going into the fact that nonbenders WERE discriminated against, the massive power abuses that characters like Tarrlok used, Korra realising that SHE had prejudices of her own that she needed to overcome, finding a way to airbend that didn't involve being angry and afraid because OH MY GOD THAT IS NOT HOW AIRBENDING WORKS, if she DID have to have her bending taken away, then actually learning something from it and gaining perspective on what it's like to be a nonbender, helping her gain valuable perspective and sitting down to work out the spiritual side of things to get it back instead of, "Oh, you're sad? HERE'S ALL YOUR BENDING BACK AND A BONUS AVATAR STATE!", and, preferably, Mako being frozen in an iceberg for a hundred years after Korra and Asami swap notes and realise he's being a grade A douchecanoe.

I had a lot of disappointed feelings about Korra, okay.

I'm still optimistic about the next season of Korra but I would've liked your version much better.

Particularly her losing her powers. I know they didn't know they were going to get a second season but what a waste of a really interesting plot!

Yeah that season finale was an excellent example of writers writing themselves into a corner and using a terrible deus ex machina to get out.

Re: Storyline ideas for a show of yours that sadly can't happen?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-16 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Where to start:

Everwood: I wish Bright had a secret crush of Colin.

7th Heaven: I wish the character exploration of Simon killing a kid didn't get resolved with a bike ride. Similarly, I wish his arc of "I'm already going to hell so why NOT have loads of sex!" had been treated much better.

Quantum Leap: There is not enough rooom for all the things I would have changed about that finale.

SGU: Death to the communication stones.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: I think season three would/should have been largely about John learning (from his dad and uncle in the future) about how to be the man he's supposed to be and then going back in time so that when Judgment Day happens, he would be older and it wouldn't be so ridiculous for him to be humanity's last hope.

Buffy: There is nothing I wanted more than a scene where teen Xander in a fit of bad home life confronts Giles about not really liking him, just tolerating him because Buffy likes him that culminates in Giles seeing Xander in anew light and getting quite protective and fatherly toward him.

Really, anything where Xander gets down on himself at an age where it's not quite as...out of place...as Hell's Belles.

I think that might be it.
