Re: What fandom introduced you to shipping slash

Sydney and Hardin in Vagrant Story were the first slash couple I ever wrote, or had interest in reading. I was introduced to the idea via Sephiroth/Cloud in FF7 fandom, and was like "WTFLOL" over the idea, read some really awful stuff that people linked me to for lulz, definitely didn't ship it. I think there was some DBZ slash I similarly laughed/was horrified at (don't even remember the ships, mostly I just remember the hilarious doujinshi covers featuring Piccolo in drag and Vegeta in a "sexy nurse" outfit), still didn't ship.

Then I started writing my first Vagrant Story fic, and though I hadn't intended to write slash, Hardin suddenly decided he was going to kiss Sydney. And I was like... Oh. Oh. This one? It's not funny. It just is. They're still my very favorite OTP.

Although now that I'm thinking about it, I femslashed earlier, because I remember before Sailor Moon S got dubbed, reading stuff about Haruka and Michiru on the net and thinking that their relationship sounded so beautiful. And I did write a short not-blatant-but-still-there shippy story about them before I ever slashed any guys.
