I think it's pretty amazing. But maybe that just because to me, it's like an anime without all the things about anime that make me go "sd;ofikhsfkjs :[." The animation is beautiful, the characters are well-developed, Sokka's got hos in dif'rent are codes, WHAT IS NOT TO LIKE? It's one of those shows that I can see not liking it, but I really, really can't understand hating it.

Yeah, if it were a real anime as soon as Aang got a power up, Sokka and Toph would fade out of existence, Zuko would have already been healed by the AVATAR'S DETERMINATION AND SAID YOU SAVED ME FROM THE DARKNESS LOLZ, and Katara would get captured every two seconds.

I mean, going by shounen rules at least.

Yeah, it's clearly made by people who love the genre, but want to make their own works. I think there are a lot of bad American-mad cartoons that are trying to ride on the popularity of anime, but Avatar really isn't one of them.
