I don't think being able to see your kinks asserting themselves (in retrospect) in innocent looking kids literature, is that unusual an experience. Kids are sexual, even if they aren't sexually active. I have the same kinks I always had, more or less. They've just gotten more play as I got older. Much older.

Seriously. That scene in Disney's Robin Hood where Prince John makes Sir Hiss stand still so he can hit him, and then Sir Hiss mumbles "thank you" made me *intensely* embarrassed and *intensely* turned on when I was all of about five years old. I had no idea what was going on, but it was fascinating, secret fun.

When I was a kid I got turned on by the scene where Robin's tied up and collared.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-18 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Shit, I just realised I did, too!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-18 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What? Where? When?

Nayrt

I think they're referring to the part at the end of the archery contest, where everyone knows the stork has to be Robin, and Prince John's henchmen catch him, tie him up, and put this big (leather? Metal? Damn, I can't remember) collar on him while the executioner approaches with a huge axe. Good times.

Just torrent Disney's Robin Hood, if you're curious. It's a good movie. Not really kinkier than anything else Disney made, but kinky enough when it comes to gratuitous bondage.

Or when Maleficent's goons attack and tie up Prince Phillip.

Dang, Disney, you sure do have a lot of bondage scenes.

That whole movie had tons of kinky parts. All the prison chains, the ridiculousy overdone spread-eagle with friar tuck, the cute crossdressing at the beginning, the gallows ... and yeah, definitely the way they manhandle Robin. ;)

Crying kink, yo!' *fist bump*

I like realizing, as an adult, the origins of my kinks in the things I watched/read as a kid.

I had a totally similar experience. I got out one of my old children's books the other day that has a scene where a girl gets tied to a lamp post by a bully. I used to feel SO WEIRD when I read that scene when I was little, and I had no idea why. Now I read porn of the same theme. Also, The Rescuers Down Under, when the little boy gets kept in a cage with the animals. I loved that and I couldn't explain why. Little me was a kinky shit, apparently.

I think it kinda proves that we don't get corrupted by exposure to sexuality. I didn't know what sex or kinks were when I saw that stuff, I just knew that it made me feel kind of excited and happy. Same principle, added puberty.

It's funny for me to see this secret because I remember those books from when my kid was little.

But I agree with the comment above -- I don't think it's unusual.

(Those books cracked me up even as an adult. I loved them.)

It's sad how my comment is going to be about the book, not the kink.

I was reading the thanksgiving one and cracking up in BAM. They haven't lost a step.

They are hilarious to me, too. I'm still sad my niece grew out of them. Darn kid.
