when it first came out it was lavished with praise the way Oscar bait films are every year in the US. I mean, the type of language used to describe it went way past hyperbole and into, like... Tom-Hiddleston-talking-about-a-sunset level of ridiculous.

Which is not to say I don't like the movie, because I do. It's gorgeous, the music is great, it's insane. But after falling in love with the series and then watching it I was a bit perplexed about what all the hype was.

Ah, I see. I remember trying to watch snippets of the movie and being really confused about it. Like I knew there was something about the series in here, but I just didn't caught much of it.
