What, do you expect all your books, films, any work of fiction to come with a disclaimer about the author's research or lack of thereof? Warning: don't try to defuse a bomb/drive a car/whatever like this at home!
Or is this just needed when the stupid women readers need to be told not to be bad things with their sex life?

Um, you know what, fuck off. Most credible writers I've been reading actually DO THE RESEARCH so it's never been an issue. This is one of the very first books I've heard of where the author blissfully DID NOT DO THE RESEARCH and apparently DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK THAT SHE DIDN'T DO THE REASEARCH. If there are more out there, authored by men or women, than the same fucking thing applies to them. Stop trying to make this about shutting women down for what they like. It's about crap writing, written by someone who didn't know shit about something that figures pretty prominent in the plot. That makes it insulting to the writers out there who care enough to know of what they've written, and insulting to readers who expect better writing than what those books put out.

+1

it's really disturbing when readers laud the fucking books as 'zomg so kinky, if I had only known about BDSM sooner'.

yeah, well, even after reading the book, you STILL know nothing about BDSM.
