LOL! I've seen so many people going on about how Twilight is ~dangerous~ for girls and women so, yeah, people do thing it's "evil" (and, to be fair, they also think it's shitty).

I can think something is problematic without thinking it's "evil".

Like, I don't think the book is part of Satan's ploy or anything, but I do think they're creepy as fuck - mostly because the fact that the characters do creepy things but everyone acts like it's normal to watch a teenager sleep.

This so much! Almost all of my co-workers (who are all older than me, and I'm 29) are huge Twilight fans, and they all go, "Hahaha, no!" when I ask if they think it's creepy that he fucking OILS her window so he can sneak in and watch her sleep!

I don't begrudge people reading fluff books, I'd be throwing a stick at myself if I did, but at least acknowledge that they're poorly written, problematic, etc.

I tried reading the first book because i like vampires and didn't even get to the point with the sleep watching. The writing was childish and i stopped when Bella thaught Edward owed her something for saving her life and repaid that by snooping in his life. Fuck no, he doesn't owe you anything, you owe him! So it's not just him beeing creepy, all characters are somewhat fucked up, but i guess that just reflects the screwed mind of the author.

And as for how dangerous: Do people really want young teenager girls growing up thinking all that shit that happens later is beeing romantic? I see teenage now and imagine adult women beeing pushed around by their husbands later in life while thinking "He's just romantic and showing me his love!". As if shit like that doesn't happen enough already!
