And you know the sad part? I would actually find the child dying to be a huge emotional moment that could have a huge impact. But when done only for shock it simply looks crass, unimaginative, and exploitative.

If it's used well, it can be a great emotional moment (see Pan's Labyrinth), or it could just be a disgusting attempt to hit the reader below the belt (see that one comic where Arsenal's daughter, Lian, died.)

Yeah, I haven't read that comic but I'll take your word. But I agree with the sentiment. *Sigh* When will people learn?
