Theon is someone i want to become a good person. I think he has the capability inside him to become a good man but is always trying to prove himself as a GREAT one, not a good one. So he does bad, stupid things to show off and try to attain glory for himself. I think it's weird cause i relate to him the most out of anyone on the show even though in real life I am the least like him behavior-wise. haha thankfully, also I am a lady.

I hate Theon, he's probably my least favorite. But I haven't seen more than one ep of the show, so... (I've also only read two books whoops)

I don't like Theon because of some of the things he's done but I don't absolutely hate him either because he's a pretty desperate and conflicted man at times. In fact the show is making me question how much I should like/hate him more than the book[s]. Maybe that's down to Alfie Allen's acting. And there's a sentence I never thought I'd type a couple of years ago!

Alfie Allen definitely gave the best performance this season.

I don't know about best character on the show, but he definitely grew on me. I think Theon is the character I have the most sympathy for - he's stuck between two places that don't want him and where he doesn't belong.

Of course, events that happen in later books (trying not to be that asshole that spoils stuff) have definitely increased my sympathy.

I sympathize with him more on the show than in the books (though I'm only on the second so far). It probably helps seeing how visually conflicted he is, growing up as a ward/hostage of the Starks alienated him both from the northerners and the people of the iron islands. It's made extremely clear that he is an outsider now by not being raised in his own culture.

I really truly hate Theon, but I think my passionate feelings about him are evidence that he is a good character (good as GRRM did a good job writing him). The fact that I almost threw my kindle at the end of Storm of Swords when he was fantasizing about being the ~Best Lord Commander the Night's Watch Has Ever Seen~ shows how good his characterization is.

That said, I hate him so much I might punch the actor if I saw him. Although the actor is cute. Hmmm... decisions.

Avoiding spoilers, I can tell you that his arc only gets more interesting. I was just thinking today about how his story becomes one of the best and most affecting, and I didn't even care about him at all in the first couple books.

I've gotta say, Theon and Jaime are my favorite characters in the entire series. Their development (though especially Jaime's) is incredible.

I love Theon. He's my favorite character in the whole series.

His stupid acting made me like Theon way earlier than I was supposed to on that show. He's a hugely flawed character and I don't know if I can ever really forgive him for some of the shit he did, but he's definitely interesting.

not into asoiaf/got, but a friend of mine loves him to death. you can read some of her essays on him here, scroll down a bit. i think you might like them.

I think he's a fascinating character. Most people completely ignore that the psychological issues involved in essentially being a foster child and later getting by your biological family for not being enough like them. He's a dick, but it's very understandable and interesting.

I'm not a fan, but he's definitely an interesting character.

I love Theon. I definitely think he's one of the best characters in the series. Like, the construction of his character arc is fabulous.

The world is pretty much out to screw Theon.

I haven't watched all the show, but I've read all we've got of the books...

I loathed the little shit at first...and he's become one of my favorite characters. Somebody else said it...the world is out to fuck Theon, and it does so with a giant rocky dildo.

I feel like I'd like him if the show had built up to his whole "I was your prisoner and I miss my family and I hate you all arrrrgh" thing more. I literally had no idea he wasn't one of the Starks until he got sent back home, before that I thought he was one of them, the focus was on making John the outsider of the family group. Like that early scene with the wolves, they give all the kids including Theon pups and then John gets the runt of the litter that was far away, even though he's Ned's actual blood son as opposed to Theon who's a ward. Theon suddenly being all "you never treated me equally" really threw me for a loop and made me roll my eyes and go "cry moar, emo kid."

And then he murdered two children. Murdered. Two children. Fuck that guy, zero sympathy points from me as of S2.

(Then I read online about what happens to him later and ... I don't know how to feel anymore.)

He may be a dick but he's a great character. He's interesting!

I sympathize and feel sorry for the character, but at the same time I still think he's irredeemable fuckhead. He's a rapist, and murdered two kids to cover his ass. Theon's definitely an interesting character, and he's certainly a favourite to read imo, but I hate him.

I'd rather feel strongly about a character than "meh" though.

Theon is by far my favorite character in ASOIAF and I know a small group of other devoted fans, so you're definitely not alone. Though I understand, depending on your fellow fans, you can get some real shit for admitting to like him best *sigh*

I disliked Theon in the show. Then I started reading the books. I found him utterly intolerable until Certain Things that happen in the later books. THEN he became one of the more enjoyable characters in the series. People who have read the books will know what I'm talking about.

He's an unfortunate character, but he did kill children and burn their corpses. When he started killing people that didn't deserve it was when I started disliking him.
