Back in the Zutara shippers made up the largest base of shippers, which is why it was so vocal.

Personally I can't stand Borra. Especially when the shippers use fanon to say why it's 'totes' canon.

I loved the show but never went near the fandom because it seemed so batshit crazy. Zutara was the big ship? Seriously? Thanks for confirming my suspicions about that fandom.

It's not the fact that it was so popular that made it crazy...it was how obnoxious a lot of the fans were about it

LOL from the way Zutarans went on, you'd think Zuko/Katara vs Aang/Katara was an actual canon love triangle. *shakes head with amused fondness*

*Shrugs* Most of the Kataang shippers ended up becoming Borra shippers and were just as delusional about Borra being canon. Different strokes and all that jazz.

I think pointing out that Zutara shippers weren't the only obnoxious ones...it's kind of a reversal of ATLA in that Borra didn't become canon but Makorra did. (Personally I hate Makorra, I used to like it but the show ruined it for me, and I don't really care for Borra either because I think of them as bros. I prefer Zutara over Kataang, but still like Kataang. *shrug*)

Kataang was the canon shipper and the other side of the coin to Zutara. Was making a point that /all/ the shippers in the avatar fandom can be delusional/crazy ;)

Shipping in the Avatar universe bugs me because it seems like the weakest part of the narrative gets 90% of the attention. You get a great episode with lots of complex history and relationships going on and most of the responses are about which ship is still "endgame."
