If the story intrigues me, but the mistakes are making me batty, I cut and paste into a word file, run the spellcheck and grammar check, and then read anyway. I don't have to do it often though, because if the characters are right, and it's three a.m. (which is when I read far too much fanfic) I no longer care about grammar. Or spelling.

I do the same thing, or rewrite parts of it to make it readable to me. There are a lot of good storytellers, but not all storytellers are good writers. My edited copies live on my hard drive and no one ever sees them but me.

You get Boromir to go with Samwise. :-)
