He doesn't seem too interested in sex in either Thor or The Avengers, granted he seems to have a lot on his mind. But he also doesn't seem to like women very much as exhibited by his attitude toward both Jane in Thor and Black Widow in the Avengers.

At the very least he seems kind of misogynistic.

I don't think Loki likes ANYONE.

I think he's rather fond of himself.

Really? I don't.

I think he likes Thor (not in a romantic way or anything but as a brother and friend) despite himself.

I just watched Avengers again a few nights ago, and based on that (Note: I'm utterly ignorant of comic!canon, and mythology!canon is something else entirely), I don't think he does.

When Thor's in the bell jar, and Loki's about to dump him, Loki looks over. You think he's about to show some flicker of remorse or regret.

Then BOOP. Bye-bye Thor, and no flicker of any emotion at all.

That moment actually launched a head-canon for me about Frost Giants not feeling familial affection, i.e. Maybe Loki is exploring the idea that while he might like his adoptive family, he doesn't actually love them, and he never has, so it's not a hardship for him to betray them. He's just not built to feel those kinds of emotions.

In a way, my head-canon's got a lot in common with the OP's head-canon; just brotherly love and family loyalty for romantic love and sex.

* ...just swap brotherly love and family loyalty...

I think that has more to do with the fact they're human, not women. He doesn't appear to have any issue with Sif in "Thor".

Really? I thought he did, especially when he became king. I guess maybe it was because she was the most outwardly suspicious of him.

She was speaking for the group, but I saw Loki treating them all as beneath him once he took the throne. I didn't get any vibe that she was specifically singled out because she was female.

In Avengers, yes, which I thought was astoundingly unnecessary.

I kind of assumed it was an attempt to make Loki less of an immediate woobie character, especially in the eyes of crazy fangirls.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that didn't work.

He made some incredibly awful sexist threats to Black Widow, but I got the sense that he was doing that because he thought that would hit her the hardest, not necessarily because of any embedded misogyny on his part. I wonder if he was basing it on something he saw in Hawkeye's mind that would imply they had a relationship.

Of course, he didn't count on Natasha being a ridiculous badass.

At the very least he seems kind of misogynistic

Is one insult enough to say that?
