The Oscars

[personal profile] morieris 2012-11-22 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, time for a group of people out of touch with most modern audiences to decide what's best.

But I'll narrow it down; Which animated movie that came out this year do you want to see win Best Animated Picture?

Paranorman. It's flawed, yes, but I thought the overall story was really great and it had a wonderful message. You can also tell that a lot of love went into crating it. I'll take any award for it, tbh even if it isn't best picture.

Same here.

Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks need no help getting attention. LAIKA does.

*crafting not crating

I especially agree about the crafting. The stop-motion animation was fantastic and looked great! I hope they at least get recognized for that

This!

And, okay, I also have to admit that I want it to win because it'll piss off all of those parents who bitched and moaned because Paranorman dedicated less than five seconds to mentioning the homosexuality of one of the characters. Their tears will be delicious. Dumb bastards are just bitter that they and their children came to enjoy and appreciate a character and then felt tricked when they found out he had the audacity to be gay. Suck it!

Same; I absolutely think that Paranorman was excellent, had a great message, and was also GORGEOUS; it was a beautifully crafted film, and I really want it to get as many awards as possible.

It improves so much on more viewings. I'm sorry it got such a bad rap for it not being as amazing as Up or Wall-E, it really is an excellent movie in itself, despite a few flaws.

I saw it twice...cut out the middle forty five minutes, yeah, it's bearable to me. The Legend of Mordu seems a lot better.

Thinking of the film's original name, Brave's original focus probably was the Legend of Mordu.

I love the Oscars. XD

I used to throw an Oscar party for my friends, and we'd fill out ballots to predict who we think would win. I used to give out first, second, and third prizes for the best predictors. Lately, my friends have been less enthusiastic so for the last two years it's just been my best friend and me eating Thai curry and rating the dresses as I spew out useless facts about various people or things relating to the Oscars.

But as for Best Animated Feature, I haven't watched Rise of the Guardians yet, but I want to give it to Paranorman.

I've always wanted to go to an Oscar party. Problem is, middle and high schoolers don't care about them.

If I still threw them I'd invite you! Wait a few years and perhaps you'll get to attend some. They can be really fun, especially if you meet people who really get into it. In the meantime, you can watch with a friend or two and compete with one another on who can predict the most winners. I owned my best friend last year when I picked Hugo for a lot of the technical awards and he went for something else.

I hear you; even in college I'm like "Who watched the Oscars?" and no one else really did.

I guess I was lucky the girls on my floor had Oscar parties.

I've only seen Brave this year, so I can't give a proper opinion. Mind you, I think rewriting their ENTIRE SOFTWARE just to deal with Merida's hair deserves SOME sort of props.

I thought Wreck-It Ralph was absolute perfection, but I know it won't win.
