Mayim Bialik is Getting Divorced

...and it makes me feel very blue. I feel so bad for her and her kids and her husband, because they did seem like a really happy family.

On another level it makes me suddenly feel insecure about the way I was planning to raise any children I might hopefully have. I'm into the long-term breastfeeding, homeschooling, co-sleeping thing and now I'm scared that it could break up a marriage I might hopefully have (even though that's how I was raised and my folks have been together 25+ years).

Though she did state it had nothing to do with her attachment parenting stuff. It's just sad any way you look at it though. ):

I haven't. The only thing I know about her is that she didn't attend a certain funeral because she was on ~*~vacation~*~, and frankly, that's enough for me.

It's cool if you have another opinion of her, I just find that to be the epitome of being heartless and cold.

Um, I've personally never attended funerals, even for the people I deeply loved? It's a ritual, I know, but the dead ones give no fucks, and it's usually just an afternoon of pain. No thank you, I'll pay my respects another time.

Funerals are for the benefit of the living, not the dead. I personally don't like sharing my grief around dozens of other people and I give everyone a free pass not to show up to my funeral. You don't know what her relationship with the deceased was like, so I don't think you really get to judge.

Really? Because she didn't attend a funeral? Some people choose to say goodbye to loved ones in a different way than funerals. It is not exactly a very good ruler by which to measure someone's caring and warmth.

People practice other parenting styles and still get divorced, too, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just make sure you find a partner who is on board with how you want to raise the kids.

Divorce happens for a multitude of reasons. Also I would assume that if you know this about yourself already you'd marry a person who thought the same or was accepting of your parenting philosophies, so that takes care of that.
