Re: Rewrite a fictional event better than canon did!
Okay, first off, I'd have several small flashbacks to Takako's time with the Knights shown throughout, preferably with her interacting with either Hayate or Sasame (or both). I'd probably start with just a few short flashes--like, say, when Himeno's asking what the other girls who were pretears were like, maybe have a short flash of Takako with her back turned to the camera, a small frown from Sasame, and then a shrug and him saying something like "They were normal girls, just like you." Later flashbacks--maybe after the big reveal about what happened to Takako--could be partially like the ones in the manga (showing how freaked out she was by being the Pretear) but I think I would also have at least one scene of her and Sasame interacting normally (maybe a training sequence similar to what Sasame and Himeno have--something to show Sasame and Takako getting to know one another, maybe giving the audience some idea that Sasame liked Takako in some way), as well as maybe some indication that Takako's home or school life wasn't the best (she seems to have already been depressed before she became a Pretear--she even says she has "no friends, no family" when she's freaking out near the end of the anime--so some sort of elaboration on that would be great).
Okay, now finally Sasame's eventual break down. Sasame's discovery that Takako's Himeno's maid was fine, I would probably mostly leave that as-is. I think I would also keep in his reunion with Takako at the chapel, that's all well and good. Once he shows up in Leafenia, though, I'd have him actually injure Hayate in some way, rather than being stopped before he could hurt him. I'd like to see some sort of consequence of Sasame going evil and jumping ship, basically. It'd be nice if that injury causes Hayate problems in the final big fight, too. Something to heighten up the tension during it.
I'm not sure what I'd do about Sasame's death scene. The scene itself is great, and I like it a lot, but it's impact is really reduced when he rises from the dead perfectly fine literally, like...10 minutes later in the same episode. Because of that, I'm tempted to say that he should STAY dead. But then I'm not sure if Takako could have any sort of redemptive moment, so...hrrrmmmm.
Plus Sasame's my favorite character, so I don't necessarily want to kill him off. I just think how it was in the actual show was pretty weak.
