I want to change my icon. But I like my little dude and he's my face here now.

I used to roll my eyes at people who read romance novels. Then I started reading the fills for the Harlequin challenges. Which is when an author takes a blurb off of the back of a Harlequin and rewrites it featuring a couple from one of their fandoms. I still think most romance novels are boring unreadable tripe but I get it a little better now.

I used to say I hated romance novels and such, and then I realized that's pretty much exactly the kind of fic I like to read. Lots of UST and the fandom slash equivalent of bodice-ripping. Oh well. Still don't buy romance novels, but I embrace my love of a good romantic story.

The ones i like best are the ones like the fic equivalent of a horrible greasy snack food. You have no idea why you started reading them and you keep promising you'll stop after you read this last one.

That's a thing? Is there a community for that?

http://fanlore.org/wiki/Harlequin_Challenge

I've been hooked since an SGA author suckered me into it in the original wave.

I love romance novels. Mostly not the harlequin type but fuck I'll read those too. I prefer the more Nora Roberts mystery with your romance type of books but I'm not too picky. Romance novels are like my candy of the book world. They're not good but they're fun and super quick to read.

I like Regencies. I used to read loads of them, then for years I didn't, but now I'm getting back into them and brought a bunch of my old ones in from the garage.

They're incredibly silly but somehow rich people with nice clothes socializing with each other takes my mind off whatever is actually going on in my life.

You changing your icon would be kind of strange, haha.

...and that Harlequin challenge sounds kind of compelling. Occasionally I get a weird urge to read a romance novel, I read one, I laugh at it, and not read one for another year or two.

I think he's really cute, if they helps. (-:

If you changed your icon it would probably take me a while to figure it out! And I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one. You should change it if you want - do what makes you happy! But you could post about it in gen comments so people still know it's you haha

Eh I probably won't. I wouldn't know what to change to anyway. It's just an idle urge.

This is probably just me being weird about my identity again. I fantasize about getting plastic surgery to change my face all the time but when I try to decide what to get done my thought process is basically "Well not my nose because that's my nose. And not my chin because that's my chin," and so on until I run out of facial features. But I still like the idea of picking my own face out.

And I guess now I do that with my F!S account because I've had this icon for so long.

Say, why don't you try out another picture of the little chameleon?

Anyway, it wouldn't be worth it to change your face. So many people leave plastic surgery disturbed at having different facial features (not to mention the people whose operations are messed up).

I kinda like the idea of having a collection of tiny chameleon icons of different colors and expressions easy to anthromorphize! I shall have to look into this. *strokes chin* Verily I thank you.

And don't worry anon, like I said, it's purely fantasy and even if I could choose a feature I'd never be able to justify, no matter what kind of mob lottery heist money I ended up with, dropping that kind of dough on what would be, for me, an essentially unecessary cosmetic surgery. I shall limit my goal of self-expression through body modification to tats and scarification. :)

I like the idea of the chameleon gimmick! That would be so cute~

I only change my icons once every few years. I did it last year and one of my friends emailed me all "DID YOU GET HACKED YOUR ICON IS DIFFERENT NOW, WTF, I'M USED TO TINY PIGTAIL SUPERGIRL"

It was pretty funny XD

You could always add a few more icons while keeping the little chameleon as your default ^^ (he really is a cutie)

Regarding icon junk, I probably wouldn't notice since I tend to visit the fs comments with images turned off (faster for phone browsing).
