...Welp. Personally the part I don't like about that particular pairing is that I've run into way too many fans who do the whole 'WAR IS SEXUAL TENSION!'* thing, but each to their own.

That said, it does make a little sad how often most of the fans I've met seem to also forget that there was a pretty fair sized period of time where the US and Russia were actually on pretty good terms.

*I know not everyone who likes this pairing does that, and that there are fans in other pairings who it. Just, on a personal level, I've run across an amazing number and that turned me off the pairing.

Mmmmmhhh chubby fetish. I'm sorry you can't find fics like that, OP. Especially since everyone in the cast seem to be made of pillows and marshmallows. Except America, he's made of McDonald's. Have you looked on Pixiv or tumblr, though? Maybe there's something there.

I just want more chubby!fic/art in this fandom. Especially for America (muscle is not my thing for him, haha).

You like what you like. There are pairings where my number one complaint is that they need more h/c even though they have a ton of character bashing, ooc, and other shit like that.

If you like the pairing at least in part for the porn, you're probably going to be disappointed if there isn't much of whatever type(s) you like, and there's nothing wrong with that.

And if you don't like a pairing for the porn, you're probably going to be disappointed there isn't more stuff that isn't all about the porn.

Rest assured that I, too, am someone who is less about the 24-Hour Sex Channel. If you like, we can feel each other's pain without feeling each other--a concept which I have a hunch may be foreign to much of fandom. ;-)

Chubbymerica is an auto-back-click for me though. It's actually a joke that he isn't chubby (he freaks out over his weight because he forgets that muscle weighs more than fat, thus causing him to work out more and more).

Russia on the other hand is canonically chubby, but I swear to all I see more Chubbymerica than Chubby Russia and I am like what is this fandom.

It's really annoying anyway, because the US isn't the fattest country in the world (that's Micronesia), nor are other developed countries far behind.

I think OP is looking for something more along the lines of weight gain/expansion (which chubby and muscle fall into- it's kind of a broad category) art than just plain Chubbymerica.

It wasn't one thing that happened, from what I can tell. Pyrrhiccomedy, Wizzard890, Mithrigil, Puella-nerdii, Lindensphinx all left around the time the dub came out for... various reasons? I mostly hung out on the anon meme, so I just caught glimpses of this crap.

I don't understand why all these people are so hated. I mean, they wrote a fanfic. It's OOC (allegedly; I haven't actually read it myself). Somehow, this is the worst thing ever and everyone hates them now?

I mean, I understand where the initial vitriol comes from, but this is several years later and people still remember them and it's still kind of wanky. Maybe I'm missing something?

iirc, the problem was less about the writing fics and more about their attitude towards fandom. Phyrriccomedy was open about her loathing of both England and USUK, whereas the Mith-Puel-Linden trio threw collective fits whenever people said AHEW wasn't the best thing ever. Not to mention fangirls of their fics would harrass and bully those who didn't consider them Better Than Canon.

Ahh, the tail end of that was right when I was getting into Hetalia, so I actually didn't really get hit by it. Though I have to admit I'm a little sad to hear about Pyrrhiccomedy's bashing of England/USUK. I actually liked what I read of The Chosen End, but...not cool of her to bash like that.

Does this help? There's not much pairing specific, but there's a lot of chubby Hetalia art on Deviantart.

Hetalia is my guilty pleasure. And US/Russia is my guiltiest pleasure of all. I'm an American, so fetishizing the Cold War is just twelve layers or wrongness ... and it makes me feel so dirty in all the right ways.

What I hate the most is how it defies canon. THEY ARE GETTING ALONG GDI.

In fairness, a *lot* of people take history as the ~real~ canon, and historically, anyways, prior to prior to the rise of communism/WW2 the US and Russia got along pretty damn well. So, if you take it from the 'IT HAPPENED IN HISTORY, SO IT MUST BE CANON!' view it's actually not defying canon.

But it does irritate me too - if nothing else because Hetalia is considered to be *loosely* based on history, so claiming it as the ~one true canon~ is a bit much.
