What I hate the most is how it defies canon. THEY ARE GETTING ALONG GDI.

In fairness, a *lot* of people take history as the ~real~ canon, and historically, anyways, prior to prior to the rise of communism/WW2 the US and Russia got along pretty damn well. So, if you take it from the 'IT HAPPENED IN HISTORY, SO IT MUST BE CANON!' view it's actually not defying canon.

But it does irritate me too - if nothing else because Hetalia is considered to be *loosely* based on history, so claiming it as the ~one true canon~ is a bit much.
