16. You hope you WON'T ever like LOTR? O_o That's exactly the opposite of me. I really wanted to get into it because so many of my friends and family like it, and it's another fandom I'd be able to share with my girlfriend. But I tried to read the books and just didn't like them. You should be glad to like popular fandoms that you can share with so many other people.

Me too! I tried to get into Kingdom Hearts and Naruto (and failed) because I wanted to share something with my friends, but I couldn't like it either. I wish that I could like more popular fandoms so I could talk to more people :(

By the way, I love your icon! It is my OT3 too.

The only entertaining thing about popular fandoms is the drama, and it's only entertaining if you manage to stay out of it.

That's really only an issue online, though. I'm talking more about being able to talk to someone at your school about your fandom and realistically expect them to know what you're talking about, as is the case with stuff like Harry Potter.

Also, I find being a part of drama entertaining, but maybe that's because I don't take fandom that seriously.

Oh yeah, it's great, everyone I know reads Harry Potter, so it's fantastic being able to just talk about it with people at uni, or my mum, or virtually anybody.

But online fandom is not a place I like to be, I abandoned it because people became over critical [it's a kids book for crying out loud], and as much as I tried I couldn't help feeling some of it rubbing on me, I started to look at every little thing, hate every little mistake, dislike a pairing because of its fans. I had to leave because I felt the negativity would end up making me hate the books.

Although there were good times too, like counting the minutes until the release, or carpet!book.
