I forget the author's name; that was also attributed in the version I read.

Not excusing plagiarism here; I do not think it's okay at all from an ethical standpoint, nor do I think it makes good writing.

However, coming to the work years and years later with all the passages marked allowed me to be able to enjoy the story for the merits it does possess, if that makes sense. :) If I'd been in the fandom at the time and come upon (ahahahhahahahahh *ahem*) the story as she originally presented it, I think I would have very different feelings about the reading experience.

Hey, Haven is awesome! (If you haven't checked out the Haven tag on tumblr, you should. There's not a TON of stuff, but there are definitely people who comment/gif/etc after each episode. It's nice to see other people excited about the show too.)

That said, I like plenty of things that have virtually no fanbase too, so I'm sort of used to it at this point.

And making friends can be tough, OP. Keeping them is even more of a challenge. If you manage to do it though, it's worth all the effort. So I hope one day you'll find a place to fit in, and someone to click with. I'm sure it'll happen, sometimes it just takes time! (A long, long time in some cases, but...I know from experience it's possible. Don't give up hope!)

I watched some of them. I watched the series premier, the one with Rupert Graves, and the mid-series finale. I only liked the Rupert Graves one but I think that's more because Rupert Graves than anything about the actual episode.

The Black Sluggard on LJ, Ao3 has an epic Heroes/Castle crossover WIP that I trust to be finished. Also in the Castle fandom s/he has something that relates to Supernatural, an impressive fic with an original take on zombies, a werewolf series that I don't think is a crossover, but is definitely supernatural in nature and some weirdo alien metamorphosis thing that I try to pretend doesn't exist and also doesn't seem to be crossoverish, but...weird alien metamorphosis thing. And something about mice? IDEK. Whole lotta Ryan/Esposito slash up in all that, tho.

Basically that's where I go for all my weird-shit fic.

Remember that the supposed defining trait of Slytherin, according to the Sorting Hat, is ambition. Working that hard to be a better person sounds pretty ambitious to me!

(Also, despite the stereotype, we see plenty of unpleasant folks that didn't graduate from Slytherin House in the books.)

Pretty much echoing what everyone else here has said, but ambition and cunning are not bad traits. There's nothing inherently evil about any of the Houses.

I think you're falling into the trap JKR set for herself. She takes the very easy way out of having all the bad guys except Pettigrew be Slytherin (and even then it's *so shocking* that Peter could be bad because he's a Gryffindor OMG). The Sorting Hat's going on about unity between the Houses and acceptance in those last few books (which I really thought she was going to follow through on in the final book but doesn't), and at the end, all the Slytherins to a student are with Voldemort? IDK. JKR paints the Potterverse in very simplistic shades of black and white. Thank goodness we've got some awesome fanfic writers giving us the shades of grey. Just not fifty please.

The thing is, is that there are a lot of female gamers everywhere. And they play for different reasons. A lot of male gamers just act surprised that there's a 'omgzgurlontehinternet' because they like to think they're the only ones who enjoy gaming. You get the same ignorance from the comic book fandom or sports fandoms.
